The Past Work Parties for the 2008-2009 School Year:

August 20, 2008

This was the work party to get the school ready for the start of the school season. Rob & Mary Knudsen and Mrs. Moore were the individuals that attended. I was out of town on that day and tried to make up for it by spending the labor day weekend tilling the grounds with the tractor. Rob came back that weekend and work some more. The school was ready for opening day.

September 27, 2008

This was the 1st official work party of the year. There were 7 students that volunteered and 3 adults which made for some really good labor. The back of the school near the playground and the south side near the kiln were the main area of focus. If you get a chance to look at these areas I believe that you will notice the vast improvement. Thanks to everyone who showed up.

The weather was great! We could not have asked for a better day. We had a new volunteer this week, John Dunlap from the Martha Lake Baptist Church. He did a great job on the front area near the mailbox.

Jennifer Jungmann planted flowers all over the front area and they look great. Jennifer is the resident FLOWER child ... she has a lot expertise and I think she just likes planting flowers. Lucas, Maya, and Gabe ... you are great examples for the other kids at the school. It is great to have your continued support.

Rob Knudsen and son Matthew are both advocates for the program and work hard. Thanks gentlemen, your hard word really helps the Adopt an Area program and Martha Lake Elementary School.

Edd Henry has been doing a great job of advertising the work parties on the READER BOARD and he does an equally good job helping out with the work at hand. Erika, the front area near the main walking path is much neater now ... Thanks very much ... Edd & Erika.

Mrs. Kite ... you are just awesome. Thanks for your continued support and for working on the front area. It looks great.

Mrs. Bird ... you really cleaned up the front area near the second school entrance. I am sure the kids are going to appreciate it when they line up to go into class. And thanks for opening the BATHROOM for our use.

Sean Murphy ... your continued support is appreciated. The tulips are coming up and the school should be looking great in a few weeks.

Abby & Jenny ... Abby this is no longer your school, but you came to the work party anyway. Your help is very much appreciated by your DAD and your sister. Jenny, you set a good example for the school. It is great to see Student Council Reps like you and Maya at the work party. Your Dad appreciates your work.
